Services

I enjoy having the option of supporting some of my clients in long-term relationships … as their virtual or in-person Business Solutions Specialist … and other clients in short-term, project-related relationships.

So, if you’re looking for someone to work on a one-time project for you, let’s talk! My writing, training, and project leader background give me a wide variety of skills and I’m happy to put them to use for you.

And if you want to work with someone on a more permanent, long-term basis, I’ll look forward to discussing your business needs and goals with you. Typically, we can determine if we’re a good fit in just one conversation.

Listed below are just some of the things with which I can assist you. Let me know if you need a service that’s not listed. If I can’t help you, I’ll make every effort to find someone who can.

Writing

With over 30 years of writing experience, I never get tired of taking a bundle of information and turning it into something that’s an easy read, organized, and useful.

I am certified in the Information Mapping documentation methodology (www.infomap.com) to effectively analyze, organize, and present information. My portfolio includes:

  • Instructional and/or training materials
  • Procedures and policies
  • User guides and manuals
  • Handouts
  • Newsletters
  • eBooks
  • Forms

In addition, I also assist clients with:

  • Blogging
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Tools for trainers
  • Online surveys
  • Website content

Editing/Formatting

Editing/Formatting

Presenting something you’ve written to an audience can be intimidating. I can help by ensuring that your offerings are well written and formatted in a way that invites the readers to enjoy what they are reading as they learn.

I have edited a wide variety of subjects and documents, including:

  • Technical editor for two publications of Organize Your Finances in a Weekend, a Quicken user guide.
  • Editor for Jewelry Savvy, authored by Cynthia A. Sliwa and Caroline Stanley.

Training

I’m happy facilitating a class or working with you to ensure that your training skills are top notch. It doesn’t matter if your class size is 1 or 100. Anyone who is looking for training is seeking a good trainer who presents the subject matter in an organized and easy-to-understand manner.

With over 30 years of training experience with companies like Sprint Nextel, Intuit, ClientLogic, and Toshiba America, I’m comfortable conducting classes in person or online. I’ve trained classes that were as short as 1 day and as long as 13 weeks, covering technical, sales, and/or soft skills. I was often called upon to create the training materials for those classes, including the trainer’s manual, student’s workbook, flip charts, and handouts.

In addition, I:

  • Served as a mentor for new trainers with a Fortune 500 company.
  • Established and managed a training department for a new technical support/customer service call center.
  • Served as the coordinator and moderator for webinars.

I have earned trainer certifications at Toshiba America and Sprint Nextel, as well as created materials for and taught train-the-trainer courses.

My train-the-trainer experience lets me help you polish your presentation and related materials to ensure that you’re at the top of your game when you present your materials.

In a nutshell, my training experience enables me to provide you with options when it comes to your training programs.

Office Management

Managing a client’s “front office” requires a variety of skills … such as organization, good customer service (on the phone and in writing), calendar management, researching, compiling reports and more. There are also those times that you need someone with whom to brainstorm ideas, plan for the future of your business, complete a special project, etc.

My background as a Customer Service supervisor and/or manager for such companies as Sprint Nextel, Intuit, and ClientLogic enabled me to develop strong customer service skills.

You can be sure that I’m someone who can manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision while you’re doing what you do best … focusing on your clients.

Project Leader

A project leader’s primary job is to coordinate all assigned aspects of a project to a successful completion. One of my most memorable projects was a two-year, 13-system application implementation, in which I managed four teams developing training materials/programs for 600+ employees.

So, this role finds me doing a wide variety of tasks, including:

  • Creating a project plan.
  • Tracking tasks to a projected timeline.
  • Monitoring project spending to the projected budget.
  • Interfacing with vendors.
  • Coordinating team members’ tasks.
  • Providing you with project status reports.
  • And more!

I have taken the role of department project leader for 20+ complex projects, all completed within the designated time frames and budgets.

Event Planning

An event is a common purpose that brings people together and it’s deemed a success when your participants feel that they received value by attending. You want your event to be memorable (in a good way!) for everyone involved. That not only includes your clients, but your vendors, event team members, and you!

I have planned and coordinated virtual and in-person events that required taking the event from start to finish and:

  • Creating a master plan that outlines the goals, timelines, location(s), and budget associated with the event.
  • Coordinating and managing the vendors (such as venue, hotels, caterers, transportation, audio/visual, etc.).
  • Coordinating the marketing.
  • Creating/Organizing materials required for the event.
  • Managing registration, correspondence, presenters, etc.
  • Creating and managing event evaluations and thank-you notes.

Whether it’s a virtual event (such as a teleseminar, online class, etc.) or an in-person event, organization and good planning are key.
